I had a sort of epiphany one night while lying in a hotel bed in Dallas. Thinking of a tweet I had posted earlier that day about my love of JanSport backpacks, I remembered that the one that I carried in high school is still in my closet. (Things that hold things are my biggest obsession.) Now I have a fresh new pink JanSport for our family adventures! It can be used as a purse, as a travel bag, a carry on, a diaper bag, and so much more! My pink JanSport backpack could be just as much a part of the Barber Bear Family as our own Little Bear, my daughter, Riley.
The pink backpack now goes almost everywhere with me, even to get a new tattoo! The Barber Bear Family is constantly on the move; Back and forth to Dallas, to various medical appointments, play dates, family and personal excursions, you name it! Even when I’m home, I’ve usually got a full plate. Why not share some of our experiences with the world? Especially considering the special circumstances our lives regularly fall into since Riley was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome. (More on that in a later post.)

For a stay at home mom with no time for therapy, it seems fairly healthy to air out the jumbled brain online, right? (I like sarcasm. A lot.) Well, it will have to do for now. I hope that through sharing our family’s adventures, I can help some other parent out there understand her own feelings, or inspire them in some way. Maybe I can also share some knowledge on Noonan Syndrome, or what it’s like to parent such a special child.
